Ads Manager runs on the OpenAI Ads platform. It lets you create and manage ChatGPT campaigns, ad groups and ads inside KIME, next to the AI visibility data you already track. It also holds the proposed campaigns that KIME drafts from your weakest prompts, so you can review them and launch the ones you want. You find it in the sidebar under Ads > Ads Manager.
Ads Manager is in beta. You need an OpenAI Ads account to launch campaigns. Ad costs are set by your bids and budgets in OpenAI Ads, not by KIME.

How it is organized

At the top of the page you have four tabs and two buttons:
  • Create campaign starts a new campaign from scratch. On the Ad groups tab this button is Create ad group.
  • Manage keys adds, replaces or removes your OpenAI Ads API key.
On the Campaigns, Ad groups and Ads tabs you can switch between:
  • Actual: what is live or set up in your OpenAI Ads account.
  • Proposed: drafts KIME suggests, based on the prompts where your brand has the weakest organic answer coverage. Nothing in Proposed is live.

How to set it up

1

Create an OpenAI Ads account

Sign up for the OpenAI Ads platform and create an ad account. You can click Open OpenAI Ads in Ads Manager to go there.
2

Generate an API key

In your OpenAI Ads settings, generate an API key.
3

Add the key in KIME

In Ads Manager, click Add API key (or Manage keys) and paste the key. KIME verifies and encrypts it.
4

Check who has access

Anyone who can use Ads Manager can create and launch campaigns that spend money. Review who has access in Roles & permissions.
You can look through Proposed campaigns before you connect a key. You need the key to accept them and send them to OpenAI Ads.

Proposed campaigns

KIME groups proposals by when they were generated. Each group header shows the date and time, the target area, the number of competitors compared and the number of prompts used, for example compete · 4 competitors · 2 prompts. Click View details to see everything in the group.

On the Campaigns tab

Use Accept to take a proposal to OpenAI Ads, or Reject to dismiss it. Use Selected campaign to filter to one campaign.

On the Ad groups tab

On the Ads tab

Use Selected campaign and Selected ad group to narrow the list.

How to use it

1

Generate proposals

Use Campaign Builder to pick the prompts you want to advertise on and click Generate proposals. You can also click Create campaign to build one yourself.
2

Review the campaigns

In Campaigns > Proposed, read each campaign’s description, ad groups, locations and start date. Click View details for the full picture.
3

Review the ads

Switch to Ads > Proposed and check each creative and image brief. Make sure the message fits your brand and the prompt it targets.
4

Accept or reject

Accept the proposals you want to run, which sends them to OpenAI Ads. Reject the rest.
5

Set bids

Check the billing event and set a max bid on each ad group before it goes live. Proposed ad groups start with a max bid of 0.00.
6

Follow results

Use Results to follow how your campaigns perform. Pause what underperforms and move spend to what works.

Get the most value

Proposals are drafts. Check the copy, the countries and the start date, and make sure the image brief can be produced, before you accept.
Ads in ChatGPT appear next to an answer to a specific question. Creatives that respond directly to that question, for example comparing products or highlighting price, fit better than generic brand messages.
Accept a few focused campaigns first with modest bids. Once Results shows which ad groups perform, move spend to them and generate new proposals in the same direction.
Use Ads Library to see which competitors advertise in ChatGPT on your prompts before you write or accept your own.
Compare your ad results with your organic visibility on the same prompts. Over time, use Actions to improve organic presence so you rely less on paid placement.
Limit who can use Ads Manager, and use Manage keys to replace the key if someone leaves the team or the key may have been shared.

  • Performance marketers who want to run ChatGPT ads with the same rigour as paid search, without switching dashboards.
  • Brand and communications leads who want to be present in answers where competitors dominate.
  • Agencies managing AI visibility and ad spend for several clients from one place.
