# AI Traffic

> Measure the visits AI assistants send to your website, how those visitors engage, and which cited pages actually get traffic.

AI Traffic shows how many visitors AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini send to your website, how those visitors behave, and whether the pages AI cites are the pages people actually land on. It connects your AI visibility to real website results.

You find it in the sidebar under **Analysis > AI Traffic**.

<Note>
  AI Traffic is new and uses your **Google Analytics 4 (GA4)** data. If you see "GA4 not yet synced for this workspace", your GA4 property has not been connected yet. Contact your KIME account manager or support to connect it.
</Note>

## What you see

### Headline numbers

| Number | What it means |
| - | - |
| **AI-referred sessions** | Website sessions that came from an AI assistant, compared with the previous period. |
| **Share of total sessions** | AI-referred sessions as a share of all your website sessions. |
| **Engaged AI sessions** | AI-referred sessions where the visitor engaged with your site, plus how many were new users. |
| **Key events from AI traffic** | Conversions (key events) from AI visitors, plus the revenue they generated. |

Switch between **Daily** and **Weekly** to change how the charts are grouped.

### AI traffic over time

AI-referred sessions plotted against your total site sessions, so you can see AI's growing share of your traffic.

### Sessions by AI assistant

Which AI engines send traffic to your site, for example ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or Copilot.

### Traffic quality by engine

Which assistants send visitors that actually engage and convert. Use it to see which engines matter most for your business, not only which send the most visits.

### Where AI traffic comes from

Which countries AI assistants send visitors from, and how engaged visitors from each market are.

### Citations vs landing pages

The pages AI engines cite in their answers (from [Sources](/features/sources)), matched against the pages AI visitors actually land on:

* **Cited and landed on**: pages AI cites that also receive AI visitors.
* **Cited, no traffic**: pages AI cites that nobody clicks through to.
* **Traffic, never cited**: pages that receive AI visitors but do not appear in the citations KIME tracks.

## How to set it up

<Steps>
  <Step title="Connect Google Analytics 4">
    AI Traffic needs access to the GA4 property for your website. Until it is connected, the page shows "GA4 not yet synced for this workspace". Contact your KIME account manager or support to connect it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set up key events in GA4">
    To see conversions and revenue from AI visitors, make sure the actions that matter (purchases, sign-ups, demo requests) are marked as key events in GA4.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Wait for the first sync">
    Once connected, data appears after the first sync. Choose a date range to explore it.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## How to use it

<Steps>
  <Step title="Check the size of AI traffic">
    Look at **AI-referred sessions** and **Share of total sessions** to understand how important AI is as a traffic source today.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Compare engines">
    Use **Sessions by AI assistant** and **Traffic quality by engine** to see which assistants send the most visitors and which send the best ones.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Compare markets">
    Use **Where AI traffic comes from** to see which countries AI sends you visitors from.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check your cited pages">
    In **Citations vs landing pages**, look at **Cited, no traffic**. These pages are quoted by AI but do not get clicks, so improving their titles, descriptions and calls to action can turn citations into visits.
  </Step>
</Steps>
